Active Civil Group successfully completed a full intersection and roundabout upgrade along Rhodes Avenue, Guildford, for Cumberland City Council.
The project involved the construction of new footpaths, kerb and gutter, pram ramps, a central roundabout, and asphalt resurfacing.
Works were delivered in three stages under live traffic conditions with a focus on safety, quality, and minimal disruption to residents and businesses.

Stage 1 – Footpath, Kerb and Gutter, Pram Ramp
Site inspection and set-out including survey of existing levels and utilities
Traffic control setup and community notifications
Demolition and removal of existing pavement, kerbs, and footpaths
Excavation and compaction of subgrade and sub-base (DGB20)
Installation of concrete kerb and gutter
Construction of new concrete footpaths with broom finish
Installation of pram ramps compliant with RMS and Council standards
Final QA checks, clean-up, and reopening to pedestrians
Stage 2 – Roundabout Construction
Verification of design drawings and set-out points
Excavation and subgrade preparation for roundabout and approaches
Construction of brick central island with mountable kerbs
Installation of approach and exit kerbs and gutters
Placement and compaction of road base to design levels and crossfalls
Stage 3 – Asphalt Works
Surface preparation and milling of existing pavement
Application of emulsion spray and laying of AC10 asphalt layers
Compaction to achieve specified density and smoothness
Crack sealing where required
Application of line marking, signage, and raised pavement markers
